Touch Grass

Touch grass. Move, walk, run. Sweat. Wander, traipse, explore. Get out. Exhale. Be sunny, feel sunny. Go outside, look up, feel the weight of atmosphere. Climb a tree. Skin a knee. Get dirty, get itchy, earn a bath. Inhale. Pay attention. Acknowledge. Ponder. Breathe.

Younger generations have inherited the technological world we have built, and with pushback reminded us who we are. They’ve reminded me what fills human spirit, what it means to be human. We communicate, we congregate, we create. We have hands, legs, endurance, far-sight.

Around the turn of 2026, I noticed a trend of original content. Not syndicated content, not viewers and subscribers, but content for the creator. Content at human-scale. A reflection of an earlier web: Geocities, Tripod, Netscape, and hypertext. “Home” pages. Links to nowhere and links to everywhere. Humans being human, online. Messy and personal. Community though existence.

I’ve built this site with the help of my kids; with inspiration from my wife; and because it’s 2026, with assistance of AI. However, the writing is mine. The irony is not lost that I sit in front of a screen, in a windowless basement, pushing to and from the cloud at the rate of keystrokes. But I’m taking the step of being creator. Sharing story, sharing knowledge. Being human.
